There is a large selection of resales available, covering every type of property imaginable, every location and across the whole price spectrum. There are of course advantages to a resale in that you generally know what is immediately around you, what the neighbouring properties are like, knowing that your view will not generally change and perhaps having a garden that is mature and instantly private. The downsides can be that the property may require a certain amount of modernising with a number of new fitments required and the addition of central heating if you are intending to reside during the winter. These costs plus the initial purchase price have to be weighed up against the cost and timescale of a new construction – it is often said that ‘new’ represents better value than ‘resale’, the choice is yours.
